A rotary club is appealing for unwanted tools to help develop third-world local communities.

Barrow Rotary Club is teaming up with Tools for Self Reliance, who restore tools and deliver them to parts of Africa to help with the development of local communities.

The Rotarians will be in Barrow’s Tesco Extra car park on Saturday May 11 between 10am and 4pm ready to receive any unwanted tools.

Graham Parker, chairman of the Rotary club’s International committee, said: “There must be lots of unwanted tools in the Furness area.

“All sorts of electric power tools are also needed – bench grinders, soldering and welding gear etc.

“Gardening tools are not wanted but they will welcome hand or electric sewing machines - old or new – which are wanted in these countries.”
