FAMILIES will be able to snap up tickets for an amazing day of racing and funfair thrills from just £10.

The Mail’s race night will be the only evening event at Cartmel racecourse this year - and tickets are priced at a competitive rate.

Adults can gain entry to the popular course for just £5 - and for every grown-up, a child goes free.

Racecourse operation manager, Fran Horne, said: “Our evening meeting is all about making the racecourse as accessible as possible, especially to families who want a great day out together.

“With tickets priced so competitively, there’s an opportunity to spend some quality time together at relatively low cost. We welcome picnics and barbecues, and with the funfair set to be in full swing, we’re expecting the racecourse to be a hive of activity.”

The Mail Raceday has been branded Ladies Night and for the first time ever, the best-dressed ladies and gents will battle it out for two prizes, each worth £1,150.

Scouts will spend the day looking for racegoers who have made an extra special effort to impress, and finalists will later be allocated a horse in a race, with the winner scooping the prize.

In addition to seven fantastic races, the first of which is set to go off at 5pm, there will be a funfair and a selection of trade stands selling food and drinks.

Entrance to the course enclosure is £5 per adult while entry to the paddock enclosure is £10 per adult.

Vanessa Sims, the editor of The Mail, which is sponsoring a race day at Cartmel for the ninth year running, said: “Our association with Cartmel is a long and proud one. It’s doubly exciting this year as it is the racecourse’s inaugural ladies night. I'm seeing a lot of chatter about it on social media, so expect there to be plenty of people having a fantastic time."
