The children spoke very highly of their taekwondo tutor with some even boldly saying it was the ‘best ever’ PE lesson.

Jackson said: “I’m really enjoying Taekwondo with Mrs Thornton.

“I love trying the different moves and techniques.

“I like working in a group with the rest of my class.

“She's a great teacher.

“We are so lucky to have her doing this with us in our village school.

“I think they’ve been the best ever PE lessons.

“I would really like to do it when I go Dowdales in September.”

Jackson’s experiences with Mrs Thornton has even motivated him to set his sights on getting a medal of his own.

He added: “Perhaps one day I might also win a bronze medal in the sport for my country.”

Star-struck Jasmine also had nothing but praise for the former national champion.

She said: “I’ve loved Taekwondo every Friday with Mrs Thornton - a bronze medal winner.

“So far, I’ve learnt how to do left leg kicks, right leg kicks, back kick and head kicks.

“We’re all given the chance to hold the kicking bag to practise our kicks.

“It has been great fun and really enjoyable.

“I want to thank her for teaching us some moves.”
