ONE little chocolate Labrador retriever pup would seem to have taken a bit too much notice of one particular television advert.

Alfie, pictured aged 11 weeks but now a growing 18 weeks, lives with his family in Barrow and like all pups is all about fun and games.

Owner Penny Taylor says he is adorable and is full of the joys of spring.

But like all pups he has his mischievous side and loves copying a well known television star pup and is very fond of playing with toilet rolls and spreading them round the house.

Alfie is also a fan of holidays in the caravan and is a great playmate for the children.

He came to the Taylor family after they got him from a lovely couple who owned his mother and father.

In Dalton, six-month-old black Labrador Tilly is not just being trained by owner Ruth Rhodes but also her older dog Poppy aged 13.

Ruth says they are the best of friends and you would not get a more loving pup than Tilly who always cuddles up to Poppy.

Poppy has proved to be an excellent influence on Tilly which was the family plan all along and she is taking on her older sister's traits who helps demonstrate the correct behaviour.

They are both fantastic dogs, Ruth says, and Tilly is such an easy pup to have around the home.

She is soft, loves her kisses and is very very cuddly.

When their three daughters have gone to bed for the night Tilly comes up on the sofa for more cuddles.

Barrow dog lover Kayleigh Robson is the very happy owner of German Shepherd Olly, aged three, and seven-month-old German Shepherd cross Labrador Darcy.

The two are best mates and have been from the beginning.

Being a full German Shepherd, Kayleigh says that when people first come into the house Olly has a protective streak over his family, but once someone strokes him he turns into a big dopey boy. He is another who loves his cuddles.

Darcy joined the household as part of a litter with her mother, but when the pups were old enough to go to permanent homes Kayleigh wanted to keep one for herself - that was Darcy.

She says that Olly is so gentle by nature he even loved the puppies and became like their dad.

Being a combination of a German Shepherd and Labrador, Darcy is not just the softest but is also the cleverest dog she knows.
