MILLOM Amateur Dramatic Society returns to the spotlight this week with a cracking show.

MADS stage An American Dream at the Alexandra Hall at Millom School, from Wednesday until Friday (7.30pm) with all the cast in great voice and raring to go.

Director Nerissa Nicholas said that the MADS' team have worked incredibly hard over the last four months to put together the summer show which they normally don’t stage until July. "We've been delighted to again have several new adult and junior members join us for this show. The MADS' cast just seems to keep growing which is just amazing - there is no end to the talent in this little town. As always the production team have enjoyed every moment working with our cast and are very proud of each and every one of them. We are really excited for opening night and we hope our audience and loyal supporters will enjoy this show as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.

"We have tried to include something for everyone."

An American Dream opens with a few fabulous favourites from musicals of the Wild West, including Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun, Calamity Jane and Paint Your Wagon.

The super talented youngsters follow on with a tuneful trip to Broadway creating a song and dance with numbers from Matilda, The Lion King and Mary Poppins.

Showstoppers from the likes of 42nd Street, On The Town and The Producers also MADS repertoire, concluding with a glitzy, glamorous selection from The Greatest Showman, the story of legendary circus ringmaster P T Barnum.

MADS was set up in 2012 and has already put on 15 successful shows, including full musicals and pantomimes.

MADS treasurer, Janet McMeekin, explained that songs from the shows styles of production are particularly popular with MADS audiences.

MADS treasurer, Janet McMeekin, says the show will give all members of the society an opportunity to showcase their talents: "We have 40 really gifted and enthusiastic children who are getting a wonderful opportunity to perform, plus around 30 adults."

Choreography for An American Dream is courtesy of Danielle Varley of KD School of Dance.

Altogether another energetic, colourful, a great night's entertainment from MADS.

Performances start at 7.30pm.
