New show on way to The Forum

A popular Barrow drama group’s latest performance is hitting the stage soon.

Barrow Operatic and Dramatic Society will be performing ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ at The Forum at 7.30pm from May 14 until May 18.

Previously the group have performed ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ in 2017 and ‘Joseph’ last year. Tickets can be bought from the Forum, Barrow.

Bygone times

ON Monday May 20, Herdwicks, on Steel Green in Millom, will be holding a talk on Bygone Curiosities.

A representative from the area's bygone group, Duane Farren, will be bringing items for display dating back from two thousand years ago to late Victorian.

A £5 deposit is required to book a spot, while the event total per person will cost £8.50, which includes food. Call 01229 778758 for more information.

Playground works

THE maintenance work on Rufus Lane and the village playground will be discussed at an upcoming meeting of Pennington Parish Council.

The council will meet at Pennington Parish Rooms on Monday May 13 at 7pm.

Councillors will be given an update on the improvements to the bridleway in Rufus Lane which the council contributed £2,000 towards.

A playground report will also be discussed along with plans for the upcoming centenary of the Cross-A-Moor war memorial.

Skills boost classes

Barrow Community Learning and Skills is hosting a wellbeing course.

The course offers new ways of looking at life's challenges through positive thinking and mindfulness approaches.

The event is held from Wednesday May 1 until June 5 from 1.45pm to 4pm.
