THE latest recipient of The Mail’s Bouquet of the Week is a nine-year-old girl who has been praised for raising money and supporting the residents of a care home.

Scarlett Butler was nominated by Tracey Whiteside, of Aldingham Nursing Home, for baking cupcakes and singing with the residents.

Tracey said: “I would like to nominate Scarlett Butler for bouquet of the week .

“This amazing little lady has been baking cupcakes to sell in order to raise money for the residents at Aldingham Nursing home.

“Scarlett started by selling cakes from home then along with her friend Lainie, visited the home to sell cakes to staff.”

Tracey, an activities co-ordinator at the home, also thanked Scarlett for singing and interacting with residents at the home.

She said: “The girls also performed ‘baby shark’ for our residents and had them smiling, laughing and clapping.

“The initiative, creativity and most importantly kindness shown by Scarlett deserve recognition and encouragement.”

Stacey Butler, Scarlett’s mother and colleague of Tracey at the home, also paid tribute her daughter, who goes to St Columba’s Catholic Primary School.

She said: “I am so proud of what she has done.

“The whole thing came from her.

“It was amazing that not only did she do the cupcake sale, she also came into and interacting with the residents and sang songs.

“For some people going into a care home can be quite intense and not everyone is comfortable with it.

“But she was and she got on really well with the residents and they enjoyed being with her.”

Scarlett’s mum added: “It was really nice to see.

“It was lovely and thoughtful.”

Scarlett and her mum live in Allonby Close on Walney.
