YOU can find out the stories behind some of the gravestones at a Furness churchyard in walks being held next month.

Rod White will share the results of his research into more than 20 intriguing graves, or the graves of interesting people, at Rampside churchyard.

Walkers are asked to park sensibly and bring stout footwear and clothing in case of wind or rain.

There is no charge for the walks, but donations can be made to SAFA Cumbria, a charity which supports those who self-harm.

You can find out more about Mr White’s research into other graves, at places such as Barrow, Walney, Dalton and Ulverston, on the website at www.furnessstoriesbehindthestones.co.uk

Among those commemorated at Rampside is 16-year-old Percy Albert Spivey Foster, of Infield Park, Barrow who drowned in August 1917 while swimming in the sea.
