A POPULAR pub and restaurant could be reopening.

The Stagger Inn was closed in February this year with no date given for a reopening.

Now, management of the venue, on Long Lane in Stainton, have revealed they are currently dealing with some behind the scenes details before officially confirming its reopening.

Recent refurbishment work has been concentrated on finishing the guest bedrooms, as well as the south facing beer garden with private booths, fire pit and BBQ, plus a children’s play area. There will also be an access gate installed.

In addition there are plans to bring back some old and classic Stagger Inn dishes.

Sean Miles, manager at the Stagger Inn, said management wanted to ‘give the people what they want’.

“I was upset to see the Stagger close when it did,” he said.

“I went there with the intention of giving it a boost.

“I think it needs that re-birth.

“We have a lot going on but I hope we can soon focus on the Stagger and give the people what they want.

“I’ve spoken to a few people in the area.

“They are all eager to see the pub reopen.

“I know they will support it and stand by it.”

Talking more about the refurbishment, he said: “A lot of work needed doing.

“There is a brand new kitchen there.

“We are also looking to implement the beer garden a lot more.

“A lot of locals and regulars were not even aware there was a beer garden at the Stagger.

“With summer coming up the place has been properly fitted out.

“It is definitely what the place needs.

“It should be somewhere people can go and enjoy an entire evening.”

Mr Miles said he wanted to see the business thrive.

“At first I didn’t think I would be able to return,” he said.

“But now I’m hoping it will be put back in my control, I feel like I have a real connection to the place.

“I want to see it thrive.”
