SUNDAY'S fundraising yoga day at Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness, raised £2,000.

The funds were raised for the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) as a way for teacher Elaine Essery to give something back to the service which rescued her after she suffered broken ribs and spinal fractures.

She sustained her injuries during a horse-riding incident between Haverigg and Silecroft last summer.

Ms Essery said: "Yesterday’s fundraising yoga day went fantastically well and we raised a lot of money.

"The Air Ambulance is a vital service, especially in rural areas like ours, and can make a huge difference to a person’s recovery - and even between life and death.

“The NWAA receives no day-to-day government funding and relies totally on donations."

The NWAA regional fundraiser is coming to Broughton next Thursday 25th April for a ‘charity big cheque’ presentation.
