A NEW business could be opening in Barrow.

A planning application to turn a house in Friars Lane in to a beauty salon is currently undergoing public consultation before a decision is made.

The plans state that the three bedroom house on the corner of the terrace, next door to Giselle Fashions, is set to be converted in to beauty salon.

The conversion would not involved any dimensional changes to the property itself.

The ground floor would be made up of a reception and a large treatment room.

The upstairs would be converted with each bedroom being turned in to an additional treatment room.

The application was first lodged on April 4, before being validated and placed in to public consultation on April 9.

Members of the public now have until May 4 to make any views they have regarding the application known to the Barrow Council Planning Department.

The next stage of the application will be for planning officers to visit the site and make an assessment on the plans.

Prior to the recent application for a change of use, the property was seen on a popular housing television show after undergoing major refurbishments.

The Mail reported last year that the property appeared on Homes Under the Hammer in June 2018.

The house was transformed after being bought by semi-retired builder Bryn Clark and his wife.

The house went up for auction in September 2017 at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston and was bought by the couple for £49,500.

The Clarks spent £40,000 on renovation work.

This included an impressive new extension which resulted in a large kitchen/diner.

The work saw the valuation of the property more than double.

state agents were shown round the house to see the improvements.

David Corrie of Corrie and Co in Barrow suggested it could be worth £100,000 when interviewed at the start of the programme but upgraded the value to £110,000 after seeing the extent of the work.
