MEMBERS of the Cartmel Fell and District Local History Society are planning outings in May and June for resuming a programme of 7.30pm talks in the Parish Rooms, next to St Anthony’s church.
On September 9 David Fellows presents a Closer Look at Ulverston – based on architectural clues to its fascinating past.
On October 14 Professor Angus Winchester has a presentation called Tyson and Todhunters, Mungoe and Lancelot, looking at personal names and local history in Cumbria.
Mike Winstanley is the speaker on November 11 with a talk called Outside the Law.
This will look at crime, policing and punishment, the development of county police forces and the changing role of Cumbrian prisons
On December 9 Bill Myers is the guest speaker on the history of pubs and breweries in South Cumbria.
