THE Mail has been shortlisted in two categories in a major national awards ceremony.
The paper has been named as a finalist in the best Daily/Sunday newspaper (below 15,000) in the Regional Press Awards.
Other papers in the section includes The Mail’s sister paper the Carlisle-based News & Star.
The Mail has also been shortlisted in the Scoop of the Year category.
It comes after the paper won a court battle to make public secret documents which were withheld by nursing bosses following two babies’ deaths.
The awards ceremony, hosted by LBC radio presenter Nick Ferrari, will take place at IET, Savoy Place in London on Friday 17 May.
Two of the Mail’s sister papers, Kendal-based The Westmorland Gazette and Carlisle’s The Cumberland News, have also been shortlisted in the paid for weekly newspaper (above 10,000).
