THE grieving parents of a 12-year-old who is believed to have killed himself have paid tribute to their son.

Kelly and Daniel Warwick and friends and other relatives have spoken about Mason Warwick, as the community rallies round his family.

Speaking today, his mother and father said: “He was our amazing special angel”.

Another family member said: “He was the loveliest sweetest boy.

“He was happy-go-lucky, really polite, and loved by everybody.

“You couldn’t’ ask for a better kid.”

Mason was taken to hospital on Thursday night after emergency services were called to the house in Queen’s Park Road, Brighton.

But the popular Varndean School pupil could not be saved.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed. Police have not confirmed the cause of his death.

But a fundraising page set up for his family states that he took his own life after he was bullied.

A family member confirmed that he believes Mason’s death was suicide.

A friend of Mason’s, who asked not to be named, said: “He was a really sweet boy and he was a really nice person.

“The fact he took his own life really surprised us because he seemed like a happy person.

“He seemed like a really happy person.”

A fundraising night will be taking place at Maggie Maes in Preston Street on Friday.

All money from the door as well as collection buckets will be given to help the family.

Family friends Lisa Mcmahon and Maria Lelean are running an event at the clocktower in Queen’s Park to raise money in Mason’s honour.

Lisa said: “My son was at his school and the same age and I know it’s affected him.

“We want to make a stand and make a day for kids to be kids and bring them together.”

The event will take place on April 14 between 1-3pm.

Event goers will be treated to an Easter egg hunt, tombola and a choir.

It will be raising money for children’s charity Amaze in the 12-year-old’s honour.

Tributes have poured in for Mason following the tragedy.

Karen Hoad wrote: “Poor little soul, this is utterly heartbreaking.

“RIP Mason, heaven will be kinder to you.”

Bernadette Bonnici Drew wrote: “Such a loving family, this still feels unreal.

“My heart goes out to his family and friends.

“There just aren’t words for me to express how heartbreaking this is.”

Donna Tilley said: “Big hugs to the family, I can’t imagine what they are going through”.
