PREPARATIONS are ongoing ahead a town’s summer carnival.
Hundreds of people are due to turn out for Dalton Carnival, which takes place on June 8.
Taking place at Dowdales School, the annual event will play host to the carnival’s signature dance competition featuring talented troupes from local dance schools.
This year’s carnival will see the return of its centrepiece parade, which marches through the town.
The parade was out of the carnival for two years and was under threat before volunteers stepped forward to help out the organising committee.
In 2017 the carnival was rained off with organisers left out of pocket for last year’s event and were unable to stage the procession.
Now, the carnival committee has reached out to schools, dance troupes and sports team to take part in the parade. Dalton Carnival posted on Facebook: “Let’s make it the biggest and best yet.”
