A TRACTOR has been removed from Walney Channel after getting stuck over the weekend.

Fears were raised that fuel was spotted leaking into the channel after it became stuck on Saturday evening.

Furness Coastguard were also called out to assist providing safety cover whilst members of Barrow Island Boat Club provided marker buoys and placed them around the obstruction close to their slipway.

A spokesman from Furness Coastguard thanked members of the club for their assistance.

One resident was initially concerned of the environmental effects of the incident.

He said: “You can see the diesel fuel leaking out on the surface of the water which can’t be good for the environment.”
