FARMERS and people living in rural areas have been warned to be vigilant over a scam call.
Police said they have been told residents have received phone calls from people asking them to pay a one-off payment to keep policing in rural areas.
A spokesman said: “Police would never phone members of the public to request or collect payment for policing of your area.
“If you are ever in doubt regarding a call hang up and report it. Police ask that the public please share this information with any vulnerable friends or family."
