THE photographic work of Edward and Raymond Sankey will feature in a charity illustrated talk by Geoff Holme on Saturday, April 13.

The 7pm event at Greenodd Village Hall is hosted by Egton-cum-Newland WI and is raising money towards the work of St Mary's Hospice at Ulverston.

Admission is £3 with tickets available by calling 07519 144799

The Sankeys took pictures from the 1890s to the 1970s of everything from ship launches, parades and royal visits to views of factories, theatres, streets, or tourist destinations.

Signal Film and Media, at Cooke's Studio on Abbey Road, secured starter funding from the National Lottery Fund and hopes to win backing for a major project to digitise and study the 15,000 negatives and postcards produced by Barrow-based father-and-son team.

There have already been a series of workshops which have looked at some of the places covered by the Sankey pictures and the vast range of places the postcards were sent to.
