How did you get into photography?

I’ve always wanted to take up photography, but could never find the time as I was a carer for my Nan, as well working full time. Plus I didn’t really have funds to buy a nice camera I was comfortable with.

After starting my own little family, I have managed to find the time and funds to take up photography. I’ve been happily pursuing this for the past 18 months.

Since starting out, I’ve shot two weddings, a birthday party and regularly do the photography for a nightclub and events company.

Who or what inspires you most?

Feedback, good or bad. I enjoy snapping away and sharing what I have been up to.

If people give me positive feedback, it makes me happy. If I get negative feedback or constructive criticism, then I know what I could do better.

I’m happy either way because my work has got a reaction, which means it’s got people thinking and talking.

What’s your favourite Kit at the minute?

This is a hard one because I love my Sony A6000 with my 16mm pancake lens, but I’d probably have to say my Sony RX100m3.

I bought this in the Black Friday sales last year. The image quality is awesome from such a tiny camera. I bought it because I can put it in my pocket and have a decent camera with me all the time. You never know when there will be something decent to shoot.

What would be your advice for new photographers?

Get out whenever you can and enjoy yourself. Learn about your kit and build up your confidence so you can get out of auto mode and shoot manually. It will give you so much more control and better results.

You’ll never stop learning as there is always a new skill or style to master. If your camera is capable, I’d say always try and shoot in RAW mode so you have more editing options available to you.

The most important thing is to grab your camera and just get out and enjoy yourself. If you’re having fun, results will follow.
