ONE of the region’s top artists is featured in tonight’s Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2019 programme. Kendalian Catherine MacDiarmid is already part way through the series and will appear on the Sky Arts channel at 8pm.This is Catherine’s third time on the show, having been shortlisted in both 2014 and 2018, where she painted actor Ashleigh Jenson and Eastenders soap star, actor and TV presenter Ross Kemp. Both times she made it down to the last three in the heats. Meanwhile, 2019 promises to be a busy one for talented painter Catherine with a big solo exhibition pencilled in at the Brewery Arts Centre for August.

BRANTWOOD hosts Ulverston artist Stefan Orlowski latest exhibition Through Floors, Within Rooms, until March 24, at the former Coniston home of John Ruskin. The work focuses on a small handful of relationships, whose portraits recur in situations and common place realities that Stefan manipulates to explore certain themes and concerns regarding the human figure.

SIGNAL Film and Media’s Under The Northern Sky exhibition concludes on Saturday. The exhibition is the grand finale to Barrow-based Signal's digital arts Platform programme, and brings together an amazing range of artwork from 13 artists on show in Signal’s Cooke’s Studios on Abbey Road. Included are films, photography, sound art, video projection, textiles and interactive artworks. Open Wednesday-Saturday.
