COMEDY returns to Barrow's Duke of Edinburgh on Thursday with another great line-up of amateur and semi-professional laughter makers.

This time around the Stand-up For Local Charities night at Barrow Comedy Club will be in aid of Dazzle for Children.

Host for the evening will the hilarious Brad Bryans with a great line-up of amateur and semi-professional comedians taking part, including Dan Baines, John Boileau, Mike Carter, Nick Moody, Niall Redhead, Liam Tuffy and Aaron Wood. Brad’s laid back small town Canadian style and unique outlook on life makes him a joy to watch on stage.

Dazzle for Children was established in March 2014 to offer free kids clubs to children aged five to 11 years old. It offers activities centred around health and wellbeing and offering positive experiences to children. Activities are developed through consultation with children whenever possible. In November 2018 Dazzle for Children established its first youth group at Barrow Island which is a popular venue for children and young people aged 12 to 18. Following refurbishment, it will reopen its community cafe this month. The cafe is a training facility for those aged between 16-21 to learn catering and customer service.

Later in the month, Thursday, March 21, comedy promoter Sam Hughes stages another Barrow Comedy Club stand up night at Dukes of Edinburgh starring an all female line-up as part of a special Stand-up For Local Charities comedy night to celebrate International Women’s Day. All proceeds from the evening will be going to Women’s Community Matters. MC will be Sian Davies who won the Hilarity Bites New Act competition in 2018 and was a finalist in Nando’s New Comedian and Harrogate Theatre Comedian of the Year 2017. Opening act will be Katie Pritchard, followed by Gemma Roberts and headliner Karen Bayley.

Meanwhile, Sam and his Laughing Penguin Events stage a pro comedy night at The Comedy Mill, Ulverston on Friday, March 15. MC will be Mike Wilkinson with Jack Gleadow, Anna Thomas and headliner, Clayton Jones.
