THIS month the Vue Barrow is hosting some top film and theatre as part of its Big Screen Events calendar and tonight celebrates the 40th anniversary of iconic sci-fi horror film Alien with a screening of the original film. Considered one of the all time greats of its genre, Alien sees the crew of the spaceship Nostromo investigate a transmission from a desolate planet and make a horrifying discovery. THE Roxy at Ulverston is staging a special three-night run from tonight of Bohemian Rhapsody, which landed lead actor Rami Malek with a Oscar for best actor. The movie is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who became one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. COMING up at Zeffirellis at Ambleside on Sunday, March 10 (3pm) is a screening of The Sleeping Beauty - Recorded at the Bolshoi.
