A RENOWNED hotel has launched its new cafe and gift shop following a major renovation to rebrand its look.

Valley View Dalton, formerly known as Clarence House County Hotel, has redesigned its entire cafe area and shopping section in a bid to update its appearance.

The new interior has provided a fresh makeover for the previously old-fashioned space, featuring soft furnishings and light colours in its redesigned colour palette.

Victoria Barber-Bolam, Managing Director at Valley View Dalton, said the renovation was prompted by her mum's eightieth birthday last year.

She said: "After my mum turned 80 this year, she allowed me to take over the business and I'd been looking at renovating for a long time.

"I was looking at current trends and noticed daytime restaurants were more in trend than nighttime restaurants.

"And the shop element just came naturally.

"A lot of hotels nowadays have shops incorporated within the hotel so I wanted to include that."

Mrs Barber-Bolam undertook the renovation process in October, calling the updated premises "a new lease of life"

She said: "I absolutely love it and love seeing new faces come through the door and wonder where the bar is, it's fantastic.

"I've watched so many local businesses close and I just thought we needed to do something different and keep the businesses going."

Mrs Barber-Bolam said the response from the community has been absolutely amazing.

"I'm just absolutely amazed by what we've achieved.

"I'm all about championing local businesses and helping them to succeed.

"The new look is sympathetic to the style of the hotel.

"If it was uber modern it wouldn't fit with the style of the place.

"It has a nice, calming atmosphere, I'm not interested in people feeling stressed or rushed.

"It's been so lovely putting my heart back into this and I think the customers are really noticing that."
