The chairman of Barrow Business Improvement District has confirmed he will stand down by the end of the year.
Simon Craig will be leaving Barrow BID in November 2019 when Marks and Spencer on Dalton Road closes.
Mr Craig is currently the manager at M&S and represents large businesses on the board for Barrow BID as well as acting as its chairman.
However, with M&S closing and opening a new Foodhall in Ulverston, he has announced he will leave the BID.
Speaking at the recent Barrow BID open meeting, Mr Craig said after the move he will no longer have a business on the high street and therefore will be unable to represent large businesses in the area.
He said: “This is likely to be one of, if not the last time, I address you at this kind of event as due to M&S relocating, I will no longer have a business within the BID area.”
