A CHARITY ball in memory of an Askam teen has sold out tickets in less than two hours.

‘A Night to Remember Jake Davies’ charity event has received overwhelming support from the community, with tickets selling completely out in just two hours for the black tie ball.

Jake was 18-years-old when he passed away in December.

The charity event aims to raise as much money as possible for mental health charities: Mind in Furness and Kick Off 4 Mental Health.

Madeline Neale, who was a close friend of Jake, has organised the charity ball.

She said: “I am organising this event in memory of someone who was very close to my heart and suffered silently due to mental health.

“This is to raise awareness to other individuals who may also be suffering from mental health issues.

“I am raising money for Mind-in-Furness and Kick Off 4 Mental Health which focus on helping individuals of all ages.

“These are fantastic charities and they inform the community that suffering with your mental health is okay and individuals shouldn’t and don’t ever have to suffer alone."

Miss Neale said she was still struggling to come to terms with Jake's loss.

She added: “This is very important to me as Jake is dearly missed and loved by so many.

“At such a difficult time, if I and Jake’s family and friends can raise as much awareness as possible, this may prevent others experiencing such a tragedy.”

Miss Neale has received widespread support from across the community.

However, she was not surprised by the level of support the event has gathered.

She said: “I did expect this amount of support because he was very loved by so many.”

The charity ball is being held at Chequers Hotel, Barrow on Friday May 3.

Any raffle prizes, sponsors or auction prizes from the public would be greatly appreciated to raise money and awareness for Mind-in-Furness and Kick Off 4 Mental Health.
