1. Last Resort:
The family run cafe on Cavendish Street offers a selection of cakes and locally roasted fresh ground coffee. One reader said: “The Last Resort in Barrow is my first port of call for a quality mug of coffee and home cooked food in a cosy cafe with friendly staff.”
2.The Hot Mango Café:
The Hot Mango Café in Ulverston serves a tasty range of breakfast and lunchtime dishes. They also offer a lunchtime delivery service and bistro style evening food on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On reader said: “The Hot Mango Cafe has lovely food and drinks and fabulous staff.”
3. Home and Finance Cafe:
This popular cafe on Dalton Road offers a great cup of coffee as well as a range of sweet treats and savoury snacks. One reader said: “Home and Finance cafe is really nice and is only 49p for a small coffee or 99p for a reg coffee.”
4. Coffee Bean:
Another popular choice amongst The Mail readers is Coffee Bean on Dalton Road. Visitors can enjoy a lovely cup of coffee and in the warmer weather can sit outside and people watch.
5.Gillams Tea Room:
The Gillam family have a long history in Ulverston, stretching all the way back to 1892 when John James Gillam opened his cash & wholesale grocers on Market Street. In 2006 Doug and Shirley Gillam opened Gillam’s tearooms. The cafe offers great service and a quality cup of coffee.
6. Poppies Cafe:
Poppies has proven another popular coffee spot in Ulverston with a number of Mail readers voting it their favourite place to go.
7. St Mary’s Hospice Orangery Cafe:
The Orangery Café offers visitors a lovely lunch, coffee and a cake. 100 per cent of the profits from the cafe goes directly to support the services provided by St Mary’s to those with terminal illness and life limiting conditions.
8.Chunky Monkey:
This popular stall at Barrow Market Hall is run by Joanne Swanston at The Chunky Monkey Cake Company. The stall has proven a popular choice amongst The Mail readers for its delicious cakes and tasty cups of coffee.
9.The Chocolate Room:
Based on Station Road in Dalton, The Chocolate Room is run by Anthony Bennett and offers a range of hot pastries, breakfast buns, granola, scones, sausage rolls, chorizo hash browns and much more. They also offer their chocolate gifts. The cafe is definitely worth a visit Mail readers said.
10. At home:
Sometimes there is nothing better than that first cup of coffee in the morning, drank in the comfort of your own home. A number of Mail readers said their favourite place to get a coffee is to make it themselves at home. It is one way to make sure it’s exactly how you like it.
