A CHARITY worker has left her role within an addiction treatment centre after more than 20 years within the organisation.

Helen Davies, who worked at numerous Cadas centres across Cumbria, including Barrow, is leaving after celebrating 22 years with the company.

Ms Davies began working at Cadas in 1997 aged 18.

As one of the first young people to be trained as a peer mentor, Ms Davies began her role in a voluntary capacity going on to become a paid member of staff two years later.

Throughout her 22 years with Cadas, Ms Davies has led the young person’s service, managed the organisation and supported a countless number of people with their recovery journey.

She said: “It has been such a rewarding job role.

“Every day has been different.

"I’ve been able to work with so many different members of staff and volunteers - it feels as if I haven’t been in the same job for all this time.

“However, I now welcome the opportunity to step back and work directly with the clients again instead of in a managerial role.

“As well as this, a main reason about why I left is I wanted to create a space for new energy to come into the organisation.”

Ms Davies has started her new role within the Carlisle-based charity Safety Net which supports the recovery of those affected by rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Alongside this, she manages her own business which provides one-on-one counselling sessions and holistic massages focussed on spiritual healing.

She said: “I’m ready to start a new chapter but I will miss all the people, staff and volunteers.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be unconnected with them, they’ve been such a big part of my life so long.

“Cadas in particular is such a unique place to work that I’ll miss it very much.”

On their social media page, Cadas expressed their deep sadness to Ms Davies’ departure from the company.

Their most recent post read: “Helen is going to be such a huge miss to the Cadas family

“She will leave a Helen “shaped hole in the organisation” that can’t be filled.

“Thank you for all the love, care and guidance you have given to Cadas over the past 22 years, you will be missed.
