1. Transfigure Fitness:

Based out of Unit 50 at Trinity Enterprise Centre in Barrow, Transfigure Fitness offers a variety of exercise classes, bootcamps and personal training sessions. Rebbecca Salisbury's fitness centre was highly recommended by The Mail readers. One person said: "Transfigure Fitness has got to be the best place to go, brilliant instructors, great classes.

"Nothing isn't achievable with these guys."

2. Barrow Parkrun:

Barrow Parkrun is a weekly five kilometre run which takes place every Saturday at 9am. The runs are organised by volunteers and welcomes people of all ages and abilities to get involved. There are also Parkruns in Ulverston and Millom for those unable to make it in to Barrow for 9am.

3. Walney Wind Cheetahs:

This community running group based on Walney Island offers a great opportunity for those living in the surrounding area to have somewhere to train. They offer a number of training programmes for all abilities. The group has proven a popular choice amongst readers.

4.Life Leisure Barrow Park:

Following a £1.25 million revamp, Life Leisure Barrow Park now hosts a variety of facilities for those looking to improve their health and fitness. The centre has a swimming pool, gym and a range of classes for adults and children.

5.Nuffield Health:

Based in Hollywood Park, Nuffield Health Barrow offers a number of different fitness facilities but also physiotherapy sessions and focusses not just of getting fit but also on a persons health and wellbeing.

6.Martin Ostler Personal Training and Bootcamp:

With a background in Rugby League, Martin Ostler is now based on Scott Street in Barrow and leads a variety of bootcamps for people of different abilities.

7. Millom Striders Running Club:

Formed in 2018 by a group of Parkrun regulars, Millom Striders now meet every Monday and Thursday at 6.30 pm at the Millom Network Centre. The club has become popular amongst local residents.

8. Furness College Gym:

9.Parkside Panthers:

Parkside Panthers are a Barrow based community running group, they meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday as well as regularly taking part in Barrow Parkrun

10. Furness Catholic Amateur Boxing Club:

Based in Lyceum Hall, Dalkeith Street, the amateur boxing club is open to anyone with an interest in boxing. Sessions are free and they meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with classes available for adults and children.
