CUMBRIA Trading Standards have warned residents of the risks around fraudsters impersonating companies.
The organisation has said that an increasing amount of people are impersonating companies, such as internet service providers and computer companies over the telephone to try and gain access to people’s computers and their bank accounts.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Trading Standard said: “If you think you’ve received a scam call, stay calm and don’t give out any information. Remember you are in control, so if you’re not sure, just put down the phone.”
