MIKE Leigh’s iconic Abigail’s Party is one of the nation's most celebrated comedies and described by The Guardian as 'one of the greatest plays about the human condition ever written.' And it's just been announced that Jodie Prenger will lead the cast as Beverley in a new tour of the groundbreaking comedy classic, which plays Manchester Opera House from Monday until Saturday, April 8-13.

Jodie - who has just finished playing the role of Kelly in the production of Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends - said that Abigail’s Party was a true British classic and a real bucket list part for her. "I’m thrilled to be involved in something so wonderful. I can’t wait to get started."

Joining Jodie in 1970s suburbia with its heady mix of free-flowing cocktails, classic disco and cheese and pineapple sticks, are Vicky Binns as Angela, Calum Callaghan playing the part of Tony, Daniel Casey as Lawrence and Rose Keegan in the guise of Susan.

Vicky has had long-running roles in Coronation Street, playing Molly Dobbs for five years, and Emmerdale as Ollie Reynolds for four. Daniel is probably best known for playing Sergeant Troy in six series’ of Midsummer Murders. Calum's TV credits include Black Mirror for Netflix, Mr Selfridge (ITV) and Our World War and Torchwood for BBC. Rose's film and TV work includes Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Match Point, The Mirror Crack’d and Gimme Gimme Gimme.
