A BARROW school has maintained its high standards after their most recent Ofsted inspection.

Brisbane Park Infant School has once again been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted after an inspection on 18 December 2018.

This sustains the legacy of high standards at the school as prior to this, inspections carried out in 2006, 2010 and 2014 were also rated as ‘good’ by the regulator.

In the 2018 inspection, the leadership was commended for maintaining “the good quality of education” and both the staff and governors were described as sharing a “passion for learning” which reflected their school motto: ‘Believe in yourself.’

Inspectors also praised the “overwhelmingly positive” response by parents, quoting one who said: ‘My child skips to school each day and comes home with a big smile on his face.’

Headteacher, Andrea Sweeting, who has been at the school for 21 years welcomed the positive comments from inspectors.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the inspection. It was lovely that they mentioned how proud all the staff are to work here, their passion for learning and the high expectations that we have, but it was also nice how they mentioned the politeness and confidence of our pupils and their love of learning."

"We've been working really hard on the curriculum and raising academic standards and it was great that they had recognised that and the improvements we have made.

"We as a school pride ourselves are not just being about academic standards, but about the whole child and the other needs that they have and it was nice how they included comments from the parents who recognise this.

"The inspector really seemed to get what we were about which was lovely and it really felt like a team effort and I am so grateful to all our staff, governors, parents and children who have continued to support our school."

"We are always striving to get better, always striving to meet the needs of the children and we will continue to develop our early years environment as highlighted within the report."
