WET Wet Wet are back out on tour and playing Preston Guild Hall's Charter Theatre on Tuesday, April 30.

The band no longer includes Marti Pellow, who left to concentrate on a solo career. Instead, former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm fronts the band alongside Graeme Clark, Tommy Cunningham, and Neil Mitchell.

Having formed in 1982 after taking their name from a line in a Scritti Politti song, Wet Wet Wet's first single Wishing I Was Lucky was released in 1987 and quickly entered the charts, starting a phenomenal run of 27 top 40 hits. Their debut album Popped in Souled Out followed bursting into the charts and reaching top spot. They have become one of the most successful groups in British pop history with an amazing back catalogue of songs, including three number one hits: With A Little Help From My Friends, Goodnight Girl and Love Is All Around. They have sold over 15 million records to date and played to more than four million people around the world.

Their first major tour in 1988 included an appearance at the Nelson Mandela 70th birthday concert at Wembley Stadium. And the guys set a record by playing ten sold out shows at Glasgow’s SECC in 1995, when they were officially the most popular live act in the UK, even out-selling the Rolling Stones who also toured that year. In 2012 Wet Wet Wet returned to Glasgow Green for a sold out spectacular 25th anniversary concert dubbed Back in The Park.
