THE Princess Royal paid a visit to Barrow Foodbank and Project John earlier this afternoon where she met numerous members of the volunteer team and local community.

The Princess spent several hours meeting the foodbank's volunteer team to learn more about the local services they provide.

She was taken on an in-depth tour around the charity's facilities, guided by project manager Ann Mills.

She said: "It was an absolutely wonderful experience and Her Royal Highness was so down to earth and interested on how the foodbank worked - it was lovely."

The Princess also attended The Hub's Project John at Cavendish Street in Barrow.

The Princess Royal officially opened the new building run by Project John, a charity for young people, and to meet the partnerships that operate in The Hub as well as some of the young people.

Other dignitaries were also present at the unveiling, including MP John Woodcock and Barrow Mayor Bill McEwan.
