A BARROW woman has been remanded in custody after being charged with drug dealing offences.

Kerry Michelle Rooney, of Cheviot Green, appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

The 40-year-old entered no plea to four alleged offences relating to the supply of a Class A drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

Rooney has been charged with supplying heroin, also known as diamorphine, on August 1 of last year, supplying heroin on August 15 of last year, supplying heroin on September 10 of last year, and supplying heroin on September 12 of last year.

All offences are alleged to have happened in Barrow.

Rooney, represented in court by Mike Graham, was refused bail and was remanded in custody until her next court appearance.

Magistrates ruled the case was so serious it warranted being committed to the crown court.

Rooney will next appear at Preston Crown Court on February 7 when she will be expected to enter a plea to each of the four charges.
