MIDGE Ure is back in the spotlight returning to the UK theatre circuit with a special concert experience.

The tour kicks off at Eden Court in Inverness on March 7 and he plays The Forum, at Barrow, on Thursday, May 2.

Nigh on 25 years ago, Midge presented a theatre show with a question and answer element to it and this year will revisit the concept with an updated version entitled Songs, Questions and Answers.

Accompanying Midge are multi instrumentalists Cole Stacey and Joe O'Keefe. Cole and Joe will also open the show playing their own original material as India Electric Company.

Sometimes folk, sometimes not, India Electric Company use traditional instruments in contemporary styles to explore diverse themes from Eastern Europe, Irish traditions and urban alienation producing something superbly quirky and fascinating.

After releasing their debut album The Girl I Left Behind Me in 2015 they have supported and accompanied Midge throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia.

There will be plenty to talk about while covering a 40-year professional career from Ultravox, Midge’s solo work to Band Aid and his Orchestrated CD from 2017 as well as anything else the audience can think of to ask him.

As the man behind 1980s band Ultravox, co-creator of Live Aid and one of the men responsible for the glorious Vienna, Midge is a giant in the music world and has a magic touch when it comes to writing hits.

Despite only reaching number two in the charts, Vienna remains one of the biggest selling records of the year it was released (1981), famously kept off the top spot by Joe Dolce's novelty hit, Shaddap You Face.

Meanwhile, 1984's Do They Know It’s Christmas, has become the biggest selling single in the history of the British charts, and Midge's own single If I Was from his solo debut album The Gift zoomed straight to number one in 1985.

So to Songs, Questions and Answers, and Midge will perform songs from the Ultravox catalogue alongside his solo work and apparently there will be an opportunity for suggestions from the crowd to pick a song for him to perform. The show will be a selection of material that will satisfy the fans and please the curious.
