AFTER 10 years of being together and now tying the knot, a Barrow couple are still in their honeymoon period as they look forward to the rest of their lives together.

Waste plant manger Paul Fleming, 31, and play centre manager Angela Watkin, 39, were happily married at the beautiful Abbey House Hotel and Gardens amongst their family and friends.

The couple first met ten years ago when Paul was working in a local shop in Barrow.

After talking for a while in the shop Angela’s friend noticed how much the couple got on, so played matchmaker and asked for Paul’s phone number.

After this, the couple arranged to go for a drink at a Barrow pub and it was Paul’s sense of humour that really stood out for Angela, although his sporty clothes were in a little need of a “re-style” as she put it, which she has since helped him with.

It was not long after that Paul whisked Angela off for a romantic weekend getaway at the Hilton in Manchester, buying Angela a beautiful new dress as well as spending money on some new shoes, which she said was “really nice” and described Paul as an “old romantic.”

When asked about the early months of their relationship Angela said: “We are still in our honeymoon period even now.”

They then had a very busy 2010 as Paul proposed in March that year and they were also blessed with a beautiful baby girl on December 8, who they called Millie. Angela also has a son from a previous relationship called Jack who is now 18.

Angela described Paul as the “best stepdad you could ever imagine” and Paul and Jack are regularly heading out together to the cinema and other activities.

When it came to planning the wedding, Angela said: "We are both pretty laid-back so everything went really well.

“The staff at Abbey House were fantastic from start to finish and just made everything so easy for us.”

On the day the couple were joined by 60 of their closest friends and family for the ceremony and another 40 guests joined them in the evening for a lively celebration.

During the day guests were also treated to a sit down meal and there was a buffet in the evening. Angela described all the food as “amazing” and although there were a few nerves everything went perfectly.

The weather was “really sunny” and the couple were able to enjoy a romantic stroll around the gardens.

After their special day, the couple also enjoyed a honeymoon alone to Portugal and they then went on another trip with Millie to Benidorm.

The couple would like thank everyone who attended and they are now thoroughly looking forward to the rest of their lives together.
