THERE was fun for all the family when Ulverston's Croftlands Infant and Junior Schools held their annual gala back in 1995.
The Mail, on May 22, noted: "Bouncy castles, a Punch and Judy show, face painting and a motorbike display were just some of the events that were laid on to cater for every taste.
"The Ulverston school grounds and classrooms were a hive of activity as children, mums and dads, grandparents and teachers soaked up the sunshine.
"There was even a special TV room made available for football fans who didn't want to miss the cup final."
The event was organised by the school's primary association, a parent and teacher group.
Other events at the gala included a four-mile run organised by Hoad Hill Harriers and tournaments for football and netball.
Music was provided by the Furness Youth Big Band.
Headteacher Jean Lang said: "What makes this day so special is the support we get from the local community and businesses."
Winners in various categories of the fancy dress competition were Jonathon Herring, Kate and Heather Sanderson and Adam Kyle — with prizes presented by Ulverston deputy mayor Cllr Dave Miller.
