THE manager of a Barrow retail store has been banned from driving after he was caught behind the wheel while over the limit.
Anthony Robert Denby pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Diane Jackson said he was stopped by police at 2.40am on Sunday December 9 when he was driving a white BMW.
He was breathalysed and gave a reading of 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Defence solicitor Andy Gallagher said a driving ban would affect Denby's work.
"He is the manager at a local retailer, he sometimes has to cover other stores in Cumbria and Preston so this will have a significant impact on his employment," he said.
Denby, 54, of Nelson Street, was banned for 18 months, fined £420 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £42 surcharge.
