A 54-year-old man suffered a significant eye-injury in an attack on a Barrow street in the early hours of the morning.
Detectives are appealing for information after the victim was robbed on Emlyn Street between 2am and 2.30am.
A police spokesperson reported the man was approached from behind by up to three people and knocked to the floor before having cash taken from his wallet.
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Detective Sergeant Mike Wallace from South Cumbria Crime & Safeguarding Team said: “Enquiries are ongoing in and around the vicinity of the scene an open mind is being kept as to whether this was a random or targeted assault.”
