A LEADING councillor has resigned from his cabinet position for personal reasons.
Councillor Chris Hogg has left the role as portfolio holder for culture and leisure on the South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) Cabinet.
In his resignation letter to council leader, Councillor Giles Archibald, Cllr Hogg, who represents Kendal South and Natland, said: “Whilst it has been a pleasure to serve as a Cabinet member (particularly in the culture and leisure role), for personal reasons I feel I would be better suited to a backbench role for the foreseeable future."
Councillor Robin Ashcroft, who represents the Grange ward, is the new portfolio holder.
He said: “I am delighted and honoured to be taking on the role of portfolio holder for culture and leisure. Obviously I have big boots to fill because Chris has done such a great job but I am looking forward to engaging with some interesting projects, as well as promoting and supporting the great culture and leisure opportunities in our area.”
