1 Ulverston’s The Mill is hosting a charity comedy night this Friday with all proceeds going towards mental health charity Mind.

The line-up includes comedy circuit veteran Dominic Woodward, hotly-tipped newcomer Simon Wozniak, award-winning musical comedian Edy Hurst and acclaimed headliner Andy Watson.

2 Coronation Hall welcomes The Magic of Vienna this Sunday with an uplifting evening of fizzing musical entertainment from violinist Adam Summerhayes and his orchestra.

Accompanied by the magical voice of Ana Maria Rincon, the evening promises to entertain audiences with the charm and elegance of Viennese ballroom.

3 Barrow Library is continuing its free creative writing session this Friday afternoon.

People taking part will do a few writing exercises in a relaxed environment and may choose to bring a 500-word extract from their manuscript for group critique.

The session is on every Friday between 3.45pm and 5pm at the library.

4 Barrow’s The Forum are hosting an evening of musical song and dance with group Steps Inc present Stagestruck 2019 tonight and tomorrow. The group promises to take you back in time to the swinging 60s as well as performing some contemporary hits from acclaimed musicals such as The Greatest Showman and Wizard of Oz.

5 Dalton in Furness plays host to a Bad Taste Party at The Newton Arms on Saturday in aid of charity Mind in Furness.

Organisers say it’s time to get shell suited and trainer booted for this retro fundraiser.

Admission is completely free and the disco starts from 7pm until 1am.

6 Barrow’s Odd Frog Tapas and Live Lounge is hosting ‘An Evening with Voce’ this Saturday night.

The classical Italian singing group are comprised of Phil McIntosh, Iain Nicholson, Chris Warby and Mark Johnson.

The band covers classical hits from the likes of Il Divo, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti and much more.

Tickets are £20 plus booking fee.

7 Ulverston’s Coronation Hall welcomes David Jackson to their lunchtime talks about local places and people.

Jackson will speak about The Fells of Swarthmoor Hall which promises to be an interesting discussion.

The event is on from 12.45 until 2pm on Saturday.

8 Barrow Park Run’s fantastic 5km race continues this weekend.

The event takes place every Saturday morning from 9am until 10am and is completely free.

New starters are encouraged to come along and join in at whatever pace.

9 Barrow Library is hosting a Children’s Book Craft Club this Saturday from 10.30am until 11.30am.

The day involves fun crafts based on favourite reads or authors for six to 11-year-olds.
