CUMBRIA’S Museum of Military Life is bringing the 100 Hearts to the Carlisle Castle museum from January 21 for its A Stitch in Time exhibition. The 100 Hearts are part of a nationwide programme initiated by SSAFA Wiltshire with the Royal School of Needlework and will be shown alongside the museum’s collection of embroidery made by soldiers, focussing on the themes of recuperation, remembrance and repair. During the First World War pin cushions - known as sweethearts - were made by wounded soldiers to send home to their loved ones. For further details telephone 01228-532774.
