AS we start a new year, The Mail's archive presents a month-by-month look through the years based on historic pictures from the 1960s to the 1990s.
Frolicking in the snow, enjoying the new growth of spring and having fun on the beaches of South Cumbria in the summer all feature on our monthly calendar of pictures.
Mixed in are some significant events, including the visits of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
