3 WHITE Christmas (1951) is one of the fabulous festive offerings coming up at Ulverston’s Roxy Cinema screened this Sunday, December 16, at 5pm. Starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen, the Christmas classic is a romantic tale that takes place in a Vermont lodge - where it is almost always, a ‘White Christmas.’ The movie features the songs of Irving Berlin, including, of course, White Christmas. Looking further ahead to Christmas Eve, the Roxy is showing another yuletide favourite - It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) running at 11am or 5pm at the Roxy’s sister cinema, the Royalty, at Bowness.

5 Cinema goers can enjoy a special screening of one of the most hotly debated Christmas films of all time this weekend at Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre. Film fans are so divided over the question of whether the Bruce Willis Christmas Eve set action flick Die Hard is actually a Christmas film, Sky Cinema recently launched an online poll which aimed to settle the issue once and for all. This year is the 30th anniversary of the film’s release and the Brewery will be showing a one-off screening the film, which has been given a 4K digital revamp, on Sunday, December 16 at 5.25pm.
