YOU can't do better for a winter stage show than a traditional battle between good and evil.
Back in 1994 Walney Junior Amateur Operatic Society decided to tackle The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at Barrow's Forum 28 in Duke Street.
The Mail, on October 19, noted: "The 80-strong society has worked for several months under the direction of Nick Carson, assisted by Melissa Thompson.
"The story, by C. S. Lewis, is set in the 1940s when children were evacuated from their homes in the cities.
"Susan (Michelle Larcome), Peter (Daniel McKeating), Lucy (karen Shaw) and Edmund (Andrew Phipps-Jones) find a strange land through the back of an wardrobe.
"The country has been taken over by the evil White Witch (Tabitha Hudson)."
The article noted: "They must somehow defeat her with the help of the hero, Aslan the Lion (Stephen Hughes)."
