A UNIQUE South Cumbrian visitor attraction has been reaping the rewards of being voted the nation’s favourite ‘magic moment’ on primetime TV this year.

Predator Experience’s ‘Howling with Wolves’ was crowned as Countryfile presenter John Craven’s ‘top magic moment’ to mark 30 years of the popular show earlier in 2018.

More than 4.2million viewers tuned in to see the veteran host attempting to howl in unison with wolves, Maska and Kajika, inspiring a whole range of people to follow in his footsteps.

“Both enquiries and bookings have been high since the programme was first broadcast,” said owner Dee Ashman. “Like many Lake District tourism businesses, we’re always busier in the summer months but this year it was on a different scale.

“The Lake District is now the only place in the country that people can have the chance to walk with wolves and learn all about them and their environment, so it really is a unique experience.”

Predator Experience: ‘Walking with Wolves’ culminates in a crescendo of howls, with people – like John Craven - being shown how to blend their own howls in unison with the two hybrid pack wolves.

“It’s the one part of the experience that people tend to love the most,” added Dee. “So we weren’t really surprised that it captured the hearts of the British viewing public. After all, its not every day you get the chance to stand beside these magnificent creatures as they welcome you into their pack.”

The attraction near Cartmel celebrates its 10th birthday in 2019 and owners, Dee and Daniel, have exciting plans to enhance the overall visitor experience.

“The number one comment we always receive from visitors, after they tell us how much they loved the experience, is that they would welcome more facilities on site,” said Dee.

“Just being able to give people the chance to take home souvenirs of the day would help to continue the experience long after they’ve returned home.” Dee and Daniel also hope to be able to introduce new training facilities, animal viewing rooms and an animal hospital.

Wolves, Maska and Kajika will also be appearing in a future BBC Earth and BBC Travel Show programme in which Dee and Daniel discuss wolf conservation and its consequent impact upon eco-systems and eco-tourism.

A Walking with Wolves experience lasts for approximately one hour and costs £95 per person.
