People struggling to cover heating costs over winter are being offered support through a South Lakes Council scheme.

South Lakeland District Council are appealing for individuals who need assistance keeping their homes warm to apply for the Local Energy Advice Partnership (LEAP).

Those eligible will receive a free home visit from a Home Energy Advisor.

From there, LEAP will be able to check applicants are on the cheapest energy tariffs as well as help implement simple energy saving measures to save money on fuel bills.

They can also give day to day tips on becoming more energy efficient.

If necessary, LEAP are able to arrange additional telephone advice to help with benefits, debt and other money related issues.
