A MAN has been arrested in connection with an assault on a bus driver.

The driver was said to have his nose broken when driving passengers in Barrow this morning.

Police said they arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of actual bodily harm after they were called to reports of an assault just after 9am. He is currently in police custody.

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said: "We can confirm that one of our Barrow drivers suffered minor injuries this morning following an incident with one of our passengers.

"Thankfully incidents such as this are extremely rare on our services and we are working closely with the police to help them both with their investigation and to ensure that the correct action is taken."
