ST MARY'S Hospice in Ulverston held their Light Up A Life service last weekend.

Each year the hospice gives families and friends an opportunity at the start of the busy Christmas season and remember loved ones who have died.

The service featured thoughtful readings, music and a specially lit tree filled with messages for and inspired by loved ones.

Sarah Simpson, Marketing Manager at St Mary’s Hospice thanked everyone for making the event special.

She said: “Thank you to Father Embery and everyone involved in making Ulverston’s Light Up A Life service so beautiful.

"The school choirs from UVHS and St Marys’s Catholic School created an extra special service, with readings from our exceptional care staff.

"The church was thoughtfully illuminated with individual candles held by everyone who attended.

"We hope everyone who attended enjoyed it too.”

Lynsey Lawson, Family and Bereavement Support Manager at St Mary's Hospice said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for people who are grieving.

"Sharing Christmas memories of a loved one who has died with family and friends can be a positive way to cope.

"Our Light Up A Life Services are available to everyone – whether their loved one was cared for by St Mary’s or not.

"I know this is a difficult time of year but remember that there is always someone you can talk to.

"If you would like more information on our Family and Bereavement Support please get in touch.”

"We are very grateful to everyone who has supported this event, this ensures that we can continue to love and care for patients and their families when they need us most.

"Light up a Life can be an extremely cathartic way to honour a loved one’s memory"
