SMALL furries can make just as loving family pets as other creatures and sadly there is no shortage of these little ones in need of new permanent homes.

Rabbits are just one of the latest breed of animals coming into the hands of charities in increasing numbers after being made homeless, mainly through no fault of their own.

The problem has now reached the stage where these charities and other caring people are having to set up schemes to highlight their plight and find those special forever homes.

One such rabbit is Bugs, a beautiful but timid all white albino-breed. She is quite timid and needs a new home with an owner or owners who will be patient and let her gain her confidence.

Bugs came into the hands of the Little Beasties Rescue and Rehoming in Ulverston after her owner was downsizing to a smaller home and had to reduce the number of rabbits she had.

Bugs came into care with another rabbit but they had not lived together and so she is now on her own.

Mandy at Little Beasties says Bugs would really benefit from going to a home where she had the company of a neutuered male rabbit as they have found this really helps the timid ones come out of themselves.

She would also be best in a home with only older children or adults.

Three-year-old Bugs has not been neutured and is on the larger side of a medium-sized rabbit.

She is okay to be picked up and handled gently and calmly.

Being an albino, Bugs does have pink eyes which are more sensitive to light and she sometimes has a weepy eye, but this does not cause any problems.

Mandy is confident that in a quieter home, with a neutuered male companion and space to run around and be a bunny, Bugs will be very happy and make a loving pet.

As rabbits are really social animals, Bugs is best with another rabbit already in the home or being adopted with another rescue bunny.

Along with Bugs, Little Beasties Rescue is also looking for homes for sisters Bella and Tinkerbell, two three-year-old rabbits. They are English cross breeds.
